The room was very clean and tidy, and it seems well suited to backpackers. Getting around on foot is easy, with Tugu Station and Malioboro Street nearby, but the alley has a no-vehicle rule, even motorcycles must be switched off. That makes it peaceful, though awkward if you have heavy luggage. One staff member was rude when telling us the room couldn't fit three people, even though we fit, and said we had to pay for an extra bed. If being near Tugu Station isn't important, you might want to stay somewhere else.

Getting there was a little tricky because the place is tucked into a narrow passageway. Maybe it’s aimed at backpackers, and the low price, especially through an OTA, makes sense for that. This was my second visit, after my first in 2019. The room has an unfinished look that gives the interior a unique style. Breakfast is included, with fried rice or fried noodles and tea or coffee, and there’s hot water. They only provide towels and soap, so bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste.

I arrived just after midnight to fit my train schedule, and check-in was quick. The guesthouse is within walking distance of Yogyakarta's Tugu Station, though it sits down a somewhat hidden little alley. The AC worked well and the WiFi was good enough for me to finish work in the morning before checking out. Breakfast was fried rice with a fried egg, plus coffee or tea. The blanket could be thicker, and the bathroom could use hot water and an air freshener. Still, it was a fairly pleasant stay.

A quiet, homey place to relax, with rooms that are clean enough even if they're on the small side. Breakfast was good, either American or Indonesian style. It’s also a pretty instagramable spot.

The bathroom needed a better clean. I booked a deluxe room with a single bed, but there wasn't much space left, and opening even my medium-sized suitcase was difficult. Room amenities were very limited. Getting to the hotel is easy since it's near tugu station and a short walk from the main street, but the final stretch is a narrow alley. Visitors have to walk in because cars can't fit and motorcycles aren't allowed through. For a backpacker-style trip, the location in the mailoboro area is worth it. There are also some nice photo spots. 😀
