You get the feeling of staying in a palace at this striking three-star hotel. The site brings together historic Javanese and European-style buildings, with impressive statues and artwork throughout. There's an on-site museum, and the guide knows a lot. I was especially impressed by the collection of Cris, traditional knives. The manager was attentive and very helpful.

The rooms have everything a tourist needs, and I'd happily stay here again if I came back to the region. What makes this hotel special is its collection of statues and historical and cultural pieces, which seems larger than what you find in many museums. Art & Heritage really is a museum, and guests can visit for free. The manager gave me a private tour and taught me a lot about the area's history and culture.

Rumah Pesik Art & Heritage Hotel feels like stepping into a wealthy merchant's home from the colonial period. Its mood is luxurious but still peaceful and mystical. The building combines Javanese tradition with European Art Deco, as seen in historic 'Kalang' houses. Inside, there are genuine antiques, huge crystal chandeliers, Keris, and statues. A living museum and an absolute gem in Kotagede, especially for anyone who loves heritage.

The bed was a 10/10, and the place itself is beautiful, well worth checking out. Service was good, but getting a room cleaned took a request, and they still didn't clean or leave fresh towels. Breakfast was very limited, so we ate the same thing for five days. Hot water was unreliable. They fixed it once, though the compressor ran all night, and we had hot water the next morning. For the next three days it was cold again, although it never gets truly cold here. Parking is another problem, with no nearby options except at a mosque, where parking isn't welcome. I'd recommend a one or two day stay if you can live with the hot water running out.
