10/10, a perfect place to unwind. The villa is clean and cozy, with a lovely view and a calm atmosphere. A great escape from busy city life.

The setup suited us, and I’d recommend the place. I’d give it 4.5 stars because we’re accommodating and like this kind of stay. If you’re a sook and precious, it may not be for you, think Kardashian family. It’s very good value for money. We’re staying here now as I write this. We found Trava on booking.com, and it looks like the photos. Communication with management was excellent before we arrived and since. It’s in a quiet location, close enough to everything by Grab or Gojek. Cars can’t reach the villa directly because the last part is a narrow laneway, but they can arrange parking at a neighbour’s place. We always gave Grab the address of a shop at the end of the street and had no trouble getting there or back. The place has a retro industrial feel that I like. It’s open plan, so breezes pass through the living area, and each bedroom has a fan and aircon. There are two bathrooms, one with hot water and one cold only. The hot water worked fine. The showers are a little slippery, have nowhere for soap, and could use hooks for clothes. Both toilets are fine. If you haven’t tried a hand shower, or handheld bidet, you should. Management asks guests to put toilet paper in the bin rather than flush it. If you use the hand shower thoroughly, it’s not a problem. I’m a pretty big, hairy bloke. So is my wife, just checking if you’re still reading. We’re used to this arrangement at home, but some people may not like it. The kitchen is set up like a traditional Indo kitchen and has what you need. Management left quite a bit of free food, like noodles, which was a nice surprise. The TV hangs from the roof upstairs and you watch it from the mezzanine. I’d like a rail at the end of the mezzanine instead of warning tape on the floor. With kids, you’d be worrying constantly, unless you hated your kids. The pool is cute but cold. That’s personal, I don’t swim unless it’s 46c outside and 35c in the pool. There’s no safe, which I think would be handy. My wife would like a small table under the mirror for makeup. She’s been using the dining table, which upsets my stomach at brekky. She also noticed there’s only one bedside table and power points on one side. And she’d like cushions on the concrete chairs around the dining table. Her bum isn’t big enough, she has a great bum. No mozzies while we were there in June 2025. They provide repellent, toothbrushes and toothpaste, which stops bad breath, not mozzies. We couldn’t find a clothes line at first, though we may not have looked hard enough. We found it. There’s plenty of bottled water, and you refill your own bottle at the dispenser. It’s a no-shoe house, but they provide thongs. My feet are like a hobbit’s, so the thongs are smallish and I went barefoot most of the time. Quick update, management contacted me to say they bought bigger sandals. Very responsive. They provide thin sheets but no blankets. You can adjust the room temperature easily with the aircon, though a heavier blanket would be good. Phone chargers are provided. There’s free wifi, but we can’t comment on speed as we used Klook. Each time you leave, the key has to go back in a locked box. For background, we live on a small rural property in Australia, pump our own water and treat our own waste. I’ve also built a few sea container houses, so I thought that might be relevant. Weird way to start a review, I know.

Trava House stole the show during my Jogja trip, even though I tried two different places. If I come back, I’ll probably stay at Trava the whole time. I’m totally smitten! It’s spacious, cozy, and squeaky clean, with an open-air feel that’s relaxed but still kind of exclusive. There’s a local-style hangout spot, a cute kitchen for making food, and a sweet little pool in this mid-size house. Jogja food is a must-try, after all. The two bathrooms, shower, and chill zone are spread across two floors. What you see is what you get, and the price is wallet-friendly. Such a bargain! The Trava crew replied quickly whenever we had questions or problems. We had a brief blackout one night, but they fixed it right away. It feels like a hidden gem. Part of me selfishly hopes it stays hidden, lol, just kidding! I’m so happy with my stay. Much love to Trava!!!

We loved staying at this hostel. It’s small and modern, with a peaceful feel, and quiet enough for us to get work done. Everyone was friendly, especially the staff, who made it feel like home. Breakfast was a fun way to try local food we might not have discovered otherwise. It was freshly served and changed every day, usually fruit juice with a mix of snacks from local food stalls.

The place is tucked down a small alley in the city, but I still found the stay worthwhile for the price and had a nice time. It’s a new, up-and-coming hip hostel in Yogyakarta, with a modern minimalist design and lots of open space. They have private rooms and dorms. The design is elegant and the place feels super cool for travelers. The service was excellent. I’ll definitely come back.
