The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast got us going for the day. Bearna was only a minute’s walk away, with Galway close by too. Maura also gave us spot-on local tips for food and shopping. Couldn’t ask for more.

We stayed in the lodge, a self-contained unit on the grounds, and it was unbelievably spacious with great kitchen facilities. It’s dog friendly too, which is a real bonus since places like that aren’t easy to find in Ireland. The hosts were very accommodating, even though we arrived late. We’ll definitely keep it in mind for future stays.

Maura and David were perfect hosts, and the room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was filling, with plenty of choices, and it’s a great base for visiting the Galway. Just keep in mind that you’re staying in someone’s home, not a hotel. Absolutely a lovely stay.

The hostess was extremely kind, and breakfast was first class. I also really liked the decor and the very spacious car park, which stood out compared with most others in Ireland. The only issue was in my room: the attached bathroom door was hard to close fully and had no lock. That might be the norm in Ireland, though. A wonderful place to stay.

Our hosts took great care of us from the moment we arrived until we left, and nothing was too much trouble. One night they even left the dining room open so we could enjoy an Indian takeaway in those lovely surroundings instead of eating awkwardly in our room. They also looked into visiting Aron island and getting to the ferry for us, then shared a phone number and contact to help us book. My colleague and I spent three nights at Villa De Porres while touring 'The Wild Atlantic Way'. It was a golden find: a well-appointed room with all amenities, secure parking, a fantastic residents lounge, and a breakfast choice among the best we’ve had. I’m hoping to return to Ireland next year by car with my wife, and Villa De Porres B&B will be one of our main stopover choices.
