The dessert left me speechless, a classic Creme Brulee with Raspberry sorbet that was just a dream. We ordered roast breasts of chicken and slow cooked feather blade beef, and the food was amazing. This was my second time at the 1808 Brasserie & Cellar Restaurant, and the experience was just as good as before. Bravo! Even though my boyfriend and I were a bit late, they still seated us. Booking is essential, and the service was excellent. It turned into a great day, with a proposal at the end on the Viaduct. Thank you very much! ❤️🥰

The staff made us feel very welcome, and the food was superb. The chef and staff got everything out hot and without any issues. We spent two nights here celebrating a 70th birthday. Our room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and there was tea, coffee and water in the room. Absolutely lovely. Highly recommended.

Guests were rushed and couldn’t finish their food or drinks. Several asked me why everything was being taken away so quickly, and I didn’t know what to say. The wedding cake came out too late, so many guests didn’t get any. I’d also bought sweet drinks for the guests and specifically asked for them to be left on the table, but staff brought them out after dinner. The tea served during the day was undrinkable and smelled like fish. There were other problems on the day. Staff seemed stressed and were rude, leaving guests unsure where to go. Some ended up in my room while I was getting ready. When it was time to cut the cake, we weren’t given a plate or fork and had to eat it with our hands. We tried to make it look fun, but I felt deeply embarrassed. We were charged for gifts guests had brought without warning, including €500 for “food hazards.” I can’t believe Becky didn’t ask me to take them away. She chose to keep them and said, “I didn’t want to ruin your day.” We were also charged for rooms we’d been told were complimentary. I sorted that out in the end, but she still charged me for breakfast even though I’d been told it was complimentary. The videographer and photographer hadn’t been told about dining arrangements, which led to extra costs. Becky’s repeated mistakes caused major stress and spoiled parts of what should have been a joyful day. I had multiple breakdowns, my family and friends were affected, and the chaos has left me with lasting regrets. The planning and communication had been poor throughout. Becky failed to pass important details to staff and forgot to reserve rooms for our guests coming from Poland, Hungary and Dublin. I had to fix that myself, and my bridesmaids were left to manage the chaos without proper support. Staff were often unprepared when I called, mistakes kept piling up, and I ended up resolving issues on my own. We booked Step House Hotel just five months before the wedding. On our first visit, the hotel looked beautiful inside, the atmosphere was perfect and the food was incredible. We paid the deposit and left excited. It took me months to calm down enough to write this, and I’m crying as I do because of how overwhelming the stress and mistakes were, both before and on our wedding day. Step House Hotel is a beautiful venue with amazing food, but the wedding planning and coordination were extremely disorganized. Extra costs were added without being run by us first. If you’re considering it for a wedding, be aware that the lack of proper management can make what should be a dream day very stressful.

Becky helped us throughout the planning, which made a big difference since my husband and I both live in Scotland. On the day, the hotel staff were professional, and I felt relaxed and comfortable. My guests have been raving about the rooms and the wedding meal. I got married here, and everything was perfect. It was honestly the best day of my life, made even more memorable by the team. Highly recommend The Step House Hotel to future couples who want to tie the knot in this lovely location. If I could, I’d give them 10 stars. Thanks again, Step House ❤️ We’ll definitely come back and stay as regular guests.

The staff were really helpful, friendly and engaging. We had a lovely late lunch here yesterday after a walk on Borris viaduct. The soup came with breads that were fab, and we also had one toasted special. There’s plenty to do around Borris, including lovely walks. We’ll be back for a stay.
