The room was tiny, with no wardrobe, and smelled strongly of damp and old furniture. The bed was extremely hard, and the stiff pillows made it impossible to sleep comfortably. We paid €278 for two nights, plus €48 for breakfast, but breakfast was very basic, just two cheeses and one ham in tiny portions. The bathroom was roomy, but only had a bathtub with a curtain, which made showering uncomfortable, and there was no floor towel. The small TV kept freezing. The conditions were far below what we paid for. I wouldn't recommend this B&B.

The staff were warm and helpful, and they handled our little requests. There’s a good bar area for getting the family together when needed. It’s within walking distance of the centre and train station. We’ll probably come back to lovely Cork and stay here again.

The central location is great, and it’s clean and warm. Just don’t expect air conditioning or plush rooms. Breakfast is a bit of a lottery, and we waited far too long just to get a pot of tea.

What made the stay for me was the people. Everyone was kind, helpful and communicative, and they made me feel at ease in an unfamiliar country. I like places that feel homey, with good company, and I found both here. The rooms were basic, but clean, and the beds were clean too, which was all I needed. I loved the old antique feel and the living room. I spent a lot of time meditating there. Honestly, what more could you ask for?
