The grounds and surroundings are lovely, but the staff training is a pity. At the leisure centre, staff couldn't answer basic questions about the activities on offer. They told me, “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” even though the activities were listed on the website, as if they didn't exist. Absolutely infuriating.

Our falconry tour on the last day was a real bright spot, and the beautiful suite made the visit worthwhile. We stayed three nights in a lovely, large room in the original part of the hotel. The dinner setup felt odd. In summer, the lovely interior restaurant isn't open for dinner, so meals are served in a huge tent. Maybe that works for weddings and big events, but it wasn't what we wanted. Four large screens showing golf and football felt more like an outdoor pub than fine dining. The food was quite good and portions were generous, though the young staff seemed to need more training or supervision. They did their best. We saw several small group tours come and go at breakfast over our stay, but the place still seemed surprisingly empty when we were there in mid June 2025. If we came back, we'd skip the summer months and the huge tent, and try to have dinner in the interior dining room.

The marquee was the thing that spoiled the intimate, romantic weekend we'd hoped for. It was pretty and stayed warm despite the wind and rain, but it still felt like eating in a marquee. At the end of the season, the hotel was quiet. On our first night there were maybe 30 people in a tent built for around 150, and on the second night we were the only guests. There was live music, more 1980s cabaret than historic Ireland, so the weekend turned into an amusing, silly one instead. The waiting staff were lovely and attentive, and the food was truly delicious. The lobster seemed a little overpriced, though it wasn't disappointing, and the Château Brianne couldn't have been better. The vegetables were delicious and portions reasonable. I was surprised the out of place garlic mushrooms came in a crispy crumb. The room was huge, though it was in the modern extension I hadn't wanted. The old fashioned furniture helped, and the bathroom was enormous with fantastic water pressure. The bed was vast, the linen was nice, but I wished the pillows were softer. There was tea, coffee, and delicious homemade biscuits in the room. The spa was lovely too. The young woman there was friendly and helpful, even when we arrived 15 minutes before closing to warm up after getting caught in the rain. Breakfast was amazing, especially the best granola I've ever eaten. It looked so good I broke my rule about not eating granola in hotels. It was served in a lovely old restaurant and was perfect. The staff were lovely too, especially Catherine at the front desk, who couldn't have been warmer. On the way in, the house looked a bit disappointing because we couldn't see its formal front. We drove toward the modern rear extension, which loomed ahead, but once we got out of the car we did find the picturesque building shown in the advertising.

A really enjoyable stay at Mount Falcon Hotel, and good value for money. The restaurant was the best part for me, with food much better than what you get at most hotels.

My family tried the “Hawk Walk” at Mount Falcon, and it was unforgettable for all of us. Daniel, the falconer, was exceptional with our daughter, who loved it. He took time to introduce each bird and explain its behavior. We got to watch five different birds eat, then walked through the woods with Hunter, the hawk. You can't control what birds do, especially birds of prey, of course. A 10/10 experience for my wife, daughter, and me. Disclaimer: I didn't receive any kickback for this review.
