I'm glad someone pointed me toward this lovely hostel. It's well placed near Donegal town, with the Abbey Hotel and other attractions easy to reach. Compared with hostels I've used around Newcastle and Ballintoy, it seemed a bit pricey. For Donegal, though, I still thought it was good value and a better experience for the money.

We waited in the car for two hours and still couldn't check in. We'd told the host when we'd arrive, and tried calling, knocking, and texting before having to find another hotel. We were told other people had run into the same behavior here. Save yourself the stress and book somewhere else.

It's close to the town centre and there is a cooked breakfast, but the rest didn't feel worth the price compared with other B&Bs we've stayed at. There were too few bathrooms and showers, and the dining room was too small for the guests waiting for breakfast. The breakfast choices felt sparse, with few cereals and none very filling or nutritious, no fresh fruit, and only butter, no jam for the bread. Parking outside cost money, and the thin walls meant we could almost hear other guests' conversations.

A quick note for anyone using Google Maps: it puts the location on top of the church, while the actual place is a little northeast along Meetinghouse St. It threw us off for a moment. My girlfriend and I showed up unexpectedly in January, in the off-season, and Steve seemed a bit surprised. He was still very accommodating, with a clean, cozy room ready for us, and gave us tips for a night out in Donegal. He was flexible about breakfast timing, and the meal was phenomenal. Steve was great to chat with too. I only wish we'd had more time. I'd highly recommend it for a good B&B stay if you're passing through.

Steve welcomed us warmly with coffee and tea, made us feel at home, and gave us a guide to Donegal. He was so nice. Strongly recommend.
