Russells Cottage

The views from the big rear window are spectacular, a lovely setting for morning coffee. We found the cottage spotless, and there were a few things waiting for us in the fridge. The hot tub out back was great for relaxing on the calmer days, though it was windy every day we were there. The wind can make the cottage pretty loud, maybe that’s part of its Atlantic charm. A local videographer we hired for our wedding recommended Russell’s Cottage, and we’re so glad he did. It was a perfect backdrop for getting-ready photos and videos on the wedding morning, and close to Doolin. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants their own space outside Doolin.

The views of the Aran Islands and Atlantic Ocean from both the main bedroom and kitchen are stunning. Russell's Cottage is a beautiful rental, just minutes from the Cliffs of Moher. It was warm inside, which surprised us for a restored cottage, and there was plenty of firewood for the stove. Management was happy to provide a cot and high chair. Just be aware there’s no microwave.

The cottage was freezing and smelled strongly of damp, so we headed home at 9 am the next morning. Finding it had already taken two hours of driving around Doolin. It didn’t show on the sat nav, and after several calls to the manager, she eventually offered to guide us there. I told Irishcottages.ie what had happened, but got no reply or refund.

It’s a very private spot, and the house has an incredible view. The photos really don’t capture it, you have to see it for yourself. The kitchen was well equipped, and questions were sorted out quickly over Whatsapp. We had a perfect stay.
