We had a great week and were sorry to leave. The penthouse is beautiful, cared for really well, and has everything you need. It’s luxurious inside and out, right down to the cushions and bedding, and the setting is lovely. Shops, restaurants, hotels, a chippy, ice cream and sweets, and the beach are all about a two-minute walk away. A few practical things would make it easier. The hill up to the penthouse is extremely steep, and coming down with a disability pram was hard. My husband slipped a few times, so people with mobility issues should know about it. The bathroom could also use a privacy blind. The glass is meant to be private, but you can still sort of see through it, and showering next to a building site made me uncomfortable. We were worried about the nearby construction because our autistic child finds loud noise difficult. There was some noise now and then, but it was brief and didn't upset her much. We used her ear defenders when needed, and it didn't bother the rest of us. The main issue was the heat. The penthouse felt like a greenhouse even on cooler days, with windows that don't open and only the sliding door for ventilation. Not much air came in, though plenty of flies did. There isn't a white curtain over the sliding door like in the other apartments. We drove to Letterkenny to buy two standing fans because my autistic child was getting very distressed and couldn't understand why she felt so hot. We all woke up sweaty, and the downstairs bedroom has no windows, just a door that nobody would leave open overnight. These are fixable issues, though, and we'd come back in a flash.

The view from the house is astonishing, and Downings is probably one of the nicest places on earth. I've come over from France twice to spend holidays at Bay View.

The area around the place is beautiful, and it made a great base for enjoying Donegal. The accommodation was tidy, the owner replied quickly, and it was great value for money. I'd recommend staying here.

I've stayed here for two separate weekends. The accommodation was top notch, and those views were stunning. Hard to ask for more!

The view upstairs is amazing, and the location is so handy, just off Downings' main street with the beach, bars, and restaurants a short walk away. We stayed in the 4-Bedroom Self-Catering Villa, which was beautiful, warm, and cosy. A fantastic place to stay in Donegal, highly recommended.
