We went for the carvery with beers, tea, and a Bailey's coffee, not to stay overnight. The food was tasty and plentiful, and my wife said the Bailey's coffee was the best she’d ever had. As first-timers, we found the service helpful and courteous. The atmosphere is fabulous, with a restaurant for dining, a Lounge for drinks, rooms in the House, and an off licence for takeaway drinks. The lush woodwork gives it a turn-of-the-century feel, meaning the 19th to 20th century. I’m glad we were staying nearby, since otherwise I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to visit. They need a separate entrance for the restaurant and Lounge.

The pub has a nice vibe and the whole place feels unique. Our rooms were always clean, and the staff were super helpful, taking their work seriously. The only small thing is that the food portions could be a little bigger. Still, we had a lovely stay.

Avoid this pub, the prices are through the roof and the owner is unfriendly to everyone, including my little hearing-impaired niece and her friend. He shouldn’t be working with customers. It’s not somewhere to bring family, and locals should stay away. I don’t know how it even has a 3.8-star rating.

The service was friendly, and the place was clean. My husband and I had lunch on Sunday. The meat was cooked perfectly with nice onions, but I wish I hadn’t picked the salad because something in it didn’t seem fresh. I ended up eating just the steak and onions.

The chicken curry I ordered at the carvery was the worst I’ve ever had, and at €18 I’d expect better than food you’d get in a hospital. When I reported it, the staff just stared at me, and there was no management around to address the problem. The whole experience was embarrassing, especially as I work in hospitality. Previous reviews make it look like nobody is happy with the carvery, and the staff on site felt soulless. The owner is most likely a scrooge. Shameful. I was unfortunate enough to feel ripped off.
