The rooms were spacious, but not especially clean, and the bare mattress had just one sheet over it, which seemed unhygienic. We had a really bad, creaky bed and an impractical curtain. For three days we got only one towel, and our request for fresh ones was ignored. There was no sign of the owners, and everything was handled over the phone. We got the keys from a lockbox, and this is a guesthouse, not a BnB. We also had bad luck with the other guests. They left the shared bathroom dirty and were loud; some of the older guests acted really entitled, as if waiting ten minutes per person for the bathroom in the morning were too long. All in all, a pretty bad experience. My tip to the owners: put a sign-in sheet in the bathroom so guests can see when the cleaners last came.

The host was only reachable by email, and we didn’t always get a reply. The room wasn’t clean at all, and the shared bathroom was constantly dirty, probably because of the other guests. We had only one towel for three days to use for the toilet, the shower, and drying our feet. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and we could hear the other guests the whole time, so we didn’t sleep well during our three days there. I’d recommend paying a little more for somewhere better.

The room was warm, clean, and really spacious, and the cleaner was lovely. We could walk into the centre, and the airport bus stop was only about five minutes away. Sharing the bathroom was fine for us; if you’re worried about the shower getting your hair wet, a plastic cap does the trick. The price for what we got felt more than fair. I’d stay here again without hesitation.

The hosts replied to our email quickly, and their cafe suggestions were useful. The place had a nice authentic feel, and even the shared bathroom was clean and stocked with shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner, which I especially appreciated. Just bear in mind it’s about a 30-minute walk to the centre.

The ground-floor room didn’t feel very private from the pavement outside, but everything was clean and the experience was a positive one. Check-in and checkout were easy, and it’s about a 20-minute walk to the nearest bus station and Dublin’s main riverside area.
