The pool and spa area were excellent, with a sauna, steam room, and hot tub. For the main pool you need a swimming cap, which they sell for €3. They said it was Irish law, though I’d never heard that before. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Housekeeping even tidied our room when we had a lie-in. Our room was much larger than I expected, with high ceilings, good furnishings, and a good clean, though the view wasn’t much. The hotel feels recently renovated, and the entrance gives a real sense of arrival. Taxis can drop you right at the door. Its central Dublin location means restaurants, bars, and attractions are a short walk away. We walked to Temple Bar in about 30 minutes, taking in the scenery. The hotel restaurant was excellent, probably my best meal in Dublin, and a nice place to sit. There’s a separate bar too, and the pints were spot on. Dublin itself is a great place, though a bit more expensive than the average destination. I could have spent much longer than a weekend there. I’d thoroughly recommend it, and Temple Bar pubs and the Guinness tour are a must.

We had to move rooms because our shower wasn’t working. The replacement room was adequate, with nice decor apart from some damage to the bathroom door. It was too warm overnight, with no air con, and opening the window brought in traffic and seagull noise. There was a good range of tea and coffee facilities, plus a hairdryer. The lobby and restaurant looked modern, with lovely seating. It was very busy when we visited. The staff were all nice, but there seemed to be too many guests for them to keep up, especially at reception. Breakfast was great, with all the usual choices, including bread, fruit, cheese, cooked food, and salad. The location worked well, about a 25-minute walk to the city centre in a pleasant part of the city that’s seen lots of regeneration. The EPIC museum is across the river, and it was easy to get the bus from the airport. The pool felt dated, the changing-room showers were a bit cold and not great, and the swimsuit dryer was broken. You have to wear a swimming cap, which you can buy for 2 euros. All in all, the hotel was good for our two nights.

The location worked really well, near the business centre but still close to the city centre and old town. The river just around the corner adds to the setting. Rooms were comfortable and cleaned every day. Breakfast was fresh with a decent amount of variety. I was very happy with the stay overall. If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs, as rooms on the road side can be a little noisy.

We’ll definitely return when we’re next in Dublin. My partner and I spent three nights at the Clayton Cardiff Lane for a mix of work and leisure, and the location made a great base for exploring. Almost everything in Dublin is within walking distance, yet the hotel still felt peaceful and comfortable. The gym was excellent, and it was lovely to have the sauna, steam room, and pool as well. If we lived closer, we’d happily become members just to use the facilities. The bar also deserves a mention for one of the best espresso martinis we’ve had in ages. We enjoyed the food throughout our stay, especially the outstanding caramelised onion starter. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, stylish, and comfortable. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We were genuinely blown away by the whole experience, and would highly recommend Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane for a comfortable stay with great facilities and lovely staff.

Our room was bright and spacious, and the staff were consistently professional and helpful. The online setup was easy and practical, too. I did miss having disposable slippers, since we were travelling light and expected to find them in the room. Without any, we had to keep our shoes on throughout the stay. For a 4-star hotel, I felt some extra amenities like that were lacking. I’d also have preferred a shower instead of a bathtub, which feels less practical and less hygienic.
