Destiny Student - Parkgate

This is basic student accommodation, just as advertised. The photos are accurate, the rooms are simple, and that’s reflected in prices well below other central places in Dublin. The staff were friendly, spoke several languages, and were extremely helpful. Thanks, Martino and Ilias, for all the tips about Dublin and Ireland. If student digs work for you, this is a great option.

You’re close to major spots like Heuston station, Phoenix Park and the Infamous Guinness Storehouse, and I wouldn’t rule the place out altogether. The rooms do run very hot and are a bit small for two people. The beds are more like a large single than a full double. Fans downstairs require a €20 deposit, which I don’t think should be charged. They should just be installed in the rooms for everyone to use.

The room was tidy and nice, and it was just right for me travelling solo. The facilities are new, and the staff were kind and really helpful. It was a little warmer in the room than I’m used to, but it wasn’t a major problem.

The staff were friendly and helped with every issue we had apart from this one. The listing felt misleading from our perspective as two groups of two. We expected something different, but it was two people in one room, in a unit shared by six separate rooms. The unit and rooms were incredibly stuffy and hot while we were there. The windows barely open, and if there was air conditioning, it definitely wasn’t working. If we’d known this properly, we wouldn’t have booked here and would’ve chosen an Airbnb for much less.
