Gardiner Lodge

The room was small but pleasant, and the bed was very comfortable. The heater in the corner took hours to get much warmer than the room, though, so it stayed chilly overnight. The daytime staff member on September 20th and 21st was a really pleasant gentleman and helped me with everything. The location is excellent. I asked for a vegetarian breakfast, but it still left me with a VERY upset stomach, so I don't know how they handled cross-contact. I was also still hungry, and with nothing labeled at the continental breakfast, I couldn't eat much because of my peanut allergy. I'd come back if travelling alone, but I'd definitely ask for the breakfast charge to be removed from the total. That money could be put to better use elsewhere.

It's a characterful old townhouse that's been converted, and the decor is really tasteful. The staff were friendly and very cooperative. The location's handy too, about a five-minute walk from Connelly station and O'Connell street.

The room we got was a little small, and there wasn't a lift. Still, the rooms seemed recently refurbished and had the essentials. Good location, friendly staff, and a great choice of continental or Irish breakfast.

The hotel, rooms, service and breakfast were all great. The area was the one drawback. If you're travelling with family or an older person, I'd look into choosing somewhere else.
