Leevin Hostel Mountjoy

The location worked well for me, close enough to walk into central Dublin, with a bus running too. I also appreciated the free luggage storage before check-in and after check-out. The reception area was a nice place to sit and meet people, and there's a restaurant next door that looked quite cool, though I didn't try it. The hostel is in a former convent, so there are lots of stairs and winding passages. The corridors have Irish-themed decorations, while the rooms are less interesting. Shared-room beds are like little caves, with a good amount of privacy, plus plugs and lamps. Unfortunately, the lockers couldn't fit most suitcases, so you had to unpack things separately to store them. The bathrooms could use more cleaning. The general atmosphere was okay, but less open and welcoming than I'd expect from similar places. Staff dealt with important requests, though they weren't especially friendly. One night someone apparently smoked in a room, setting off the alarm twice, and it took a while to switch it off again. A bit of a hassle. Still, it's a good place for a few nights. Thanks for the hospitality.

I was really pleased with the stay. The mattress was comfortable and I slept well; getting my luggage up to the third floor was a bit tiring, haha. The place was very clean, the staff were friendly, and the surroundings were nice. The price was so low for such a good environment that it beat my expectations. They sent emails to confirm each step from booking onward, which felt very thoughtful. I'm not good at writing Google Maps reviews, but I'll leave one on the booking software. Thank you very much.

As a woman, I felt very safe there, and the place stayed warm and well ventilated through the winter weather. The bed pod was cosy, comfortable, and smelled fresh. I booked a four-person room and was genuinely surprised by how much I liked the stay. It was clean and calm, too. The bathrooms were decent, with mixed and gender-specific options, and were cleaned regularly. The dining room had ovens, microwaves, freezers, fridges, plates, mugs, and cutlery. Would recommend!

It's just a short walk to the city's main area, and the hostel has plenty of pleasant shared spaces, including a kitchen, game area, and outdoor area. The place is huge, with lots of rooms and bathrooms, all well maintained. My room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable with some privacy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for better.
