Molloy's Apartments

The apartment was lovely, and everyone at the pub was so nice. We travelled all the way from Mexico and were really impressed. The one drawback was having just one bathroom for three rooms and six people, though we spent most of our time at the pub. Trinity college was within walking distance.

The apartments were clean and very well maintained, and the location was perfect, right in the centre. I had no other complaints, but with my two-year-old it was a pain not having a long broom. I had to get down on my hands and knees with a little brush and pan to sweep, and there was no toaster either.

What a strange experience. When I asked, the female bartender seemed put off but said they accepted Amex. She tried my card twice and told me it had been declined, announcing it loudly across a group of 12 people. I felt embarrassed, so I used another card and sat down. Then I called customer service and found there hadn't been any attempts, and my card hadn't been declined at all. I can't believe it.

We’d had such a lovely day with my elderly in-laws, including a perfect dinner at Fire Steakhouse. Before driving back home to Newry, we stopped for a drink at Malloy’s, a bar down a side street from Connolly Station. The woman behind the bar refused to serve me because I was wearing tracksuit bottoms, even though I’d seen other people dressed similarly. Later, she came over to our table and told me I’d only get one drink because of what I was wearing, calling me “darling.” It felt condescending and left me embarrassed and uncomfortable, like everyone was watching. It really soured the day.
