The Davenport

On our first trip to Ireland, we had a wonderful two-day stay. The hotel and location were great, and Kerry made us feel welcome when we stopped in for a pint after checking in. Evelyn looked after us at breakfast the next day. Both of them went out of their way to accommodate us and made the stay a great experience. Highly recommend.

The cigarette smoke coming through the bathroom vent made our night unbearable. We were told the vent runs automatically until a certain time and then shuts off, but it never stopped. Staff said the smoke couldn’t be coming from inside the hotel because alarms would go off, but that didn’t change what we were breathing in our room. There wasn’t another room available, so we barely slept and were very uncomfortable. If you’re allergic to cigarette smoke, don’t risk it. In every other way, the hotel was lovely: clean, with modernized rooms, and professional, polite staff. We’d had high hopes, but left disappointed and wouldn’t stay again.

The room was nicely appointed, with a very comfortable bed. Housekeeping came daily and left little treats, and for our birthday celebration the hotel gave us several compliments, including a handwritten card. There’s also a lounge, restaurant, and fitness center, with a spa due to open downstairs in 2026. We spent a luxurious, wonderful week at the Davenport Hotel. From the moment we entered, the Christmas decor, cleanliness, and charm stood out, and we were warmly welcomed. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, quickly explaining what the hotel offered and showing us the way. The team were attentive throughout and helped with arrangements. Cannot recommend the hotel enough!

From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and well organized. The high service standards showed throughout, with attentive, consistently polite staff who seemed well trained. It made the stay comfortable and stress-free. I travel often and have stayed in hotels in several countries, but this is the first in Ireland that felt professional in every aspect. Without a doubt, it’s the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Ireland, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting a high-quality, professional experience.
