Travelodge Dublin City Rathmines

The room was a bit small, but it did the job. Parking is limited, so I had to use the shopping centre 200 metres up the road. Its sign advertised overnight parking for 10 euros, but the small print said that rate only applied from midnight to 9am. I arrived at 9:30pm and had to pay 18 euros for the night. It’s not a bad place, though.

There’s no bar or food service, though they do leave complimentary tea and coffee in the rooms and reception. The rooms are very basic, and doors kept slamming both day and night.

A handy spot south of the city centre, with several buses going in. The room was a little small, but clean and comfortable enough for a night or two. It’s a budget hotel.

We never needed a bus or cab because the location was so good. The staff were lovely and helpful, the room was cleaned daily, the bed was comfortable and the water stayed warm. That was about it for the good points. There was nowhere to put our things, so we made do with the chair and windowsill. The carpet really needed a clean, and the only heating was a radiator that could be switched on for two hours. A shoehorn and toilet brush would have been useful too.
