Dungarvan’s little town centre was peaceful and lovely, and we were just three minutes from the Visitors Centre, a chemist, supermarket and restaurants. Local buses made it easy to get to places of interest. After travelling the world for 32 years, I can honestly say The Hat Maker Boutique Hotel is a must. Every room has its own design, and ours was incredible, with nothing missing. The staff were so friendly that, for once, I couldn’t find a fault. I loved every minute of our stay and found real peace and quiet here. Do yourself a favour and book a room.

The café had a relaxed, charming feel that reminded us of continental Europe, and the service there was wonderful. Our stay at the Hatmaker Hotel was lovely from start to finish, and we’re looking forward to coming back. The staff made it especially memorable, warm and welcoming, attentive and professional throughout. The rooms were beautiful and stylish, presented impeccably, and the bathrooms added a real touch of luxury.

We booked the hotel on the same day without seeing it first, and it turned out to be a great surprise. The location was ideal for walking around town, and parking was easy. Our room was nicely decorated and very well appointed. Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I also had a nice chat with Daniel, the owner. A nice fellow. When we come back to Dungarvan, I already know where we’ll stay.

We’d asked The Hat Maker for Dungarvan restaurant suggestions about a week before arriving, and they emailed a really helpful list. I’d recommend asking, especially if you’re there on a Friday or Saturday. We ate at The Moorings and enjoyed it. Breakfast was continental, with cold meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, breads, pastries, homemade overnight oats and granola, all delicious. After a long day cycling, the complimentary welcome drink in the bar was a lovely touch. We didn’t try the cocktails, but they looked exquisite. We were four couples on a cycling holiday and stayed one night. The welcome was warm, and there was no problem storing all eight bikes securely overnight. Our courtyard-facing rooms were beautifully decorated with great attention to detail and had everything we needed. The showers were very good, the toiletries particularly nice, and the beds unbelievably comfortable. We all slept really well. What stayed with me most was how much this hotel seems to care about its guests and staff. Every team member we met was friendly and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. I’d highly recommend staying at The Hat Maker.

Everything we needed had been thought of in the fabulous rooms, and the attention to detail was on another level. The location was superb, and the staff were so helpful and friendly. A special nod to Jacob, David and the lovely girl who looked after us at breakfast. Breakfast was simple and more than ample. A wonderful experience in a real gem of a hotel. Couldn’t recommend it more, we’ll be back!
