We spent two nights in room 11, which looks out over the lake. It was a decent size and cosy, and even in November we didn't need the radiators. The bathroom's small but practical, with lots of hot water and a really powerful shower. The whole place felt more like a hotel than a guesthouse, especially with the lovely blue LED lights along the corridors. The lake looks beautiful lit up at night, and the grounds were well kept on both sides of the house. There’s a lovely deck beside the water. The room was spotless, the staff were amazing and helpful, and the place itself is fabulous. I was surprised by the price too, it felt like the best value accommodation we've stayed in, and hard to beat for what they charge. The three star rating surprised me as well. Looks like a lot of work may have been done, and I think it deserves another star. My only small suggestion is to provide hand towels and larger bath towels. We had just two fairly small bath towels for two people. That's an easy thing to fix and didn't spoil the stay, especially considering the value. If we're in the area again, this will be our first choice.

The room was neat and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and we had a really nice stay. We weren't expecting breakfast, so the complimentary cereal boxes were a pleasant extra. They had Coco Pops, Rice Krispies and Cornflakes. I'd seen some reviews beforehand and was a little concerned, but I don't agree with most of the comments. The place matched what was advertised and what we expected. If you're looking for a five star hotel, you'll be disappointed, but I thought the price was fair compared with other places nearby.

The garden was lovely and kept tidy, thanks to a robot mower. Just watch for it if you're outside there at night. We stayed in the Deluxe self catering bungalow, but there was nothing deluxe about it. It was cramped and overpriced, and we had no privacy from guests in the main house unless we kept the curtains closed. The kitchen had a travel kettle, microwave and fridge, but no hob or oven, so it wasn't really self catering. There were no windows to open except a small one in the bathroom. The toilet seat and sofa bed were broken. The bathroom door had glass panels, so light shone right onto the bed while the rest of the place was dark behind the curtains. The shower cubicle hadn't been cleaned properly. We didn't have breakfast in the main building, we just wanted to get out of there.
