Anglers Rest Hotel

With lots of family visiting, we hired one of the rooms. It had a really lovely feel to it. I heard the food was good, and the staff were attentive.

We stopped in for food on a whim. It was really tasty, the prices were very reasonable, and the atmosphere was great. Worth a visit if you’re nearby.

The roast dinners and grilled salmon are particular favourites, though there’s plenty else on the menu we’d happily try. We come for ordinary weeknight meals as well as big family occasions, and everyone, whatever their age, enjoys eating here. The staff are lovely and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the value and service are both excellent. We’re lucky to have this family-friendly place nearby.

We booked a table for 3 o’clock, but nobody took our order until 3:17 p.m. Then the food took another hour to arrive. There were only three tables occupied in the restaurant, though I was told they were busy with a function and the printer wasn’t working. We were customers too, and it felt like nobody noticed us. No one offered a dessert or coffee menu, and after paying the full bill without an apology, I told the floor manager about the wait. Her response and management skills were very poor. I’ll try to avoid coming back.
