Grove Lodge Holiday Homes

A warning for anyone considering this place: we stayed a month ago, and the owners no longer live on-site. Breakfast also isn’t included anymore. Despite the accommodation being described as a bed-and-breakfast, including on its own website, an email with our check-in instructions arrived on the day we were due to arrive and said breakfast wasn’t included. By then, we couldn’t have got a full refund if we’d tried to stay somewhere else, and we weren’t sure what else would be available. The on-site host had to ask the owner to turn on the heat remotely when we needed it. It came on that day but not again for the rest of our stay. The water also didn’t work properly unless the host reset something several times a day, so pressure was weak and uneven, and we sometimes had no hot water. I’d look elsewhere for accommodation.

We had a comfortable room and I’m glad we stayed a few nights. The setting is stunning, beside the river, with lovely gardens worthy of the Chelsea Flower Show. Great hosts and facilities, too. A very lovely place all around, and I loved the dog.

We were there for a family wedding and wished we’d had more time to enjoy the lovely house and the grove. The scenery and views were beautiful, and it was so peaceful. I’d stay again, just lovely.

The rooms were top notch, and the hosts were very cordial and made everything easy. Breakfast had great choices. For the best flow, sit down before getting coffee or food, the host will bring your coffee and you can order your main breakfast from them. An amazing stay, a must for this town.
