Fairhill House Hotel

We spent two nights here, and the food was a real highlight, especially the mussels and seafood chowder. Head chef James was so friendly. He came out to chat and gave each of our kids a chef’s hat, signed for them. The rooms were lovely, and the warm, inviting feel started as soon as we came through the door. Service was excellent the whole time. A fantastic getaway, we’ll be back soon. Thanks!

Eddie and the staff are fabulous, and there’s a great whiskey selection in a lovely atmosphere. The portions are generous for the price, especially on the kids menu. I had my wedding reception here and still keep coming back.

We had a balcony room looking over Clonbur, a quiet village only a few minutes from Cong. The restaurant was popular with locals as well as guests, and we enjoyed two breakfasts and two dinners there. It’s a lovely, warm place with great food and a handy base for exploring Connemara. Best of all, dogs are welcome, so we’ll definitely return.

The service was good, and our waiter was really friendly. I enjoyed the hot, creamy soup of the day, and the club sandwich tasted good too. The advertised “crispy bacon” was barely cooked and very fatty, though, which was disappointing. I’d still come back to eat here.
