Wallis Arms Hotel

My wife’s Vol-au-Vent was impressive. The service was quick and pleasant, and the food is usually good quality. My stuffed mushrooms were the letdown: instead of the usual cheese, they had plain stuffing.

There was live Irish music over in the bar, which added to a really welcoming evening. We had dinner here on our first night in Ireland and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly, too. I’d definitely recommend it.

The hotel is handy for seeing local sights, with a couple of shops and a laundry place within walking distance. Our room was warm and comfortable, and the window looked out over the square. The staff were friendly and accommodating. There’s a nice pub with a restaurant attached, though most nights it only serves until 8. Across the street, there’s a good pizza place and Chinese food, plus a great smoothie and health food store.

The food was a bit all over the place, and honestly not the best. The handbags being sold in the restaurant made for a very odd atmosphere. I’d stopped in for a bite while looking for mushrooms nearby. The Murphy’s pint, though, was absolutely sublime.
