The Irish breakfast at Walsh's pub was good, though it meant a walk of about 200 meters from the residence. I could hear conversations from neighboring rooms. It worked well for a single night, but compared with other B&Bs I’ve tried, the price felt like poorer value.

The river view and setting were lovely, and I felt right at home. Walsh's bridge inn, run by the same owner, was fantastic too. For a nice place to stay in Newport, I’d recommend it every time.

The Spanish lady who looked after us was lovely, though she wasn’t the owner. The place was clean and comfortable, but it still felt as if something was missing. Breakfast was just okay, and the brown bread seemed underbaked or perhaps not properly defrosted. This was our last B&B on the walking holiday in Achill and along the Greenway, and my least favorite. They could definitely do better.

The house is quiet, with a beautiful view. Anchor House makes you feel at home, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy the area, from walking or cycling the Greenway to local experiences, cooking, and shopping. It’s a lovely place for a few days off or a holiday.

Everyone was incredibly friendly, and the rooms were clean and well kept. It was a great place to stay in Newport, County Mayo, and I’d gladly come back.
