Lakeside Apartment Retreat in Oughterard Connemara

Jim & Anna welcomed us with useful information and a bottle of wine, and they were a lovely couple. Their apartment is modern, spotless, comfortable, and well equipped, with a big TV facing the sofa and breakfast tables by the scenic front window and out on the terrace. We had all the kitchen gear we needed. The induction hob worked well, though figuring out its controls was a bit of an adventure, and it even made us think about replacing our climate-unfriendly gas hob at home. The lake view is stunning, with morning sunlight coming right through the window. You'll need a car here. The roads wind around, and walking feels risky. We ate at the Camp Street café/restaurant, where the food and drink were good and reasonably priced. The apartment is a wonderful base for Connemara National Park and other local sights. Lough Corrib Cruises was fun too. Thanks, Jim & Anna, for a wonderful stay.
