We stayed in the room at the very back, and the view was one of the loveliest I've had in any accommodation. The location is incredible, the owner is so sweet and makes sure you have what you need, and the kitchen facilities are great. The building isn't very modern and could be chilly in colder months, but we loved its mountain hut feel. There was a warm fire in the living room, and we'd happily come back. PS, go for a swim in the lake just below the hostel!

The mountains and lake around the hostel are beautiful, and the kitchen is well equipped. The beds are really big and comfortable too. The owner genuinely cares about his guests. He lent us a map of Connemara national Park and shared extra tips for trips. Easily the best hostel I've stayed in. I'd give it six stars if I could, and would return in a heartbeat.

Sleeping in the forest in a sleeping bag was a highlight, along with hiking Diamond hill, absailing, orienteering, and the water activities at Achill Island. It was a great chance to experience country life and get a break from the noisy city. I had lots of fun visiting Recess with my classmates, and had an outstanding time down there IN Connemara. The instructors were kind, friendly, and helpful. The toilets were clean and well maintained, and the food was delicious.

The hostel looks like a great place to stay if you want to explore CONNEMARA, though we haven't actually stayed there. The nearby area, including the spot in the picture I'm sharing, is about a 10-minute walk away. There are beautiful valleys, flat areas, green surroundings, lakes, mountains, and landscapes all around. If I come back, I'd definitely stay at this hostel.

The atmosphere is great, and breakfast is all-you-can-eat :-) Jim and Tina know their way around just about anything and are always available. Even if you haven't decided where to hike, ask them for advice. They can also drive you to Recess, to the bus stop, if you need a lift.
