The family who own and run this hotel are amazing. We also had the best meal of our trip to Ireland here. Can’t wait to come back someday!

There were 26 of us, and we had a fabulous night at the hotel. We booked a set-menu meal and heard nothing but compliments about the food and staff.

I’ve been coming here for dinner every year for over twenty years, so today’s experience was a real disappointment. We were five adults and one child. The staff initially objected when we asked for an extra seat at our table, and only brought one after we pointed out that a neighbouring table had done the same. Later, we noticed them being unaccommodating toward another larger group nearby. My husband’s order was missed, and a different dish arrived. The waiter suggested I’d got his order wrong, and when the waitress who took it checked on us moments later, she didn’t acknowledge the mix-up. The fish of the day was delicious, but the curry was bland and expensive for what came out: a bowl of rice and a bowl of chicken and curry sauce, with no vegetables or salad. The owner also came across as unwelcoming. He didn’t acknowledge us as we left after paying, which isn’t what I’d expect from good hospitality. I heard him speak rudely to other customers about the “problem” they were causing by needing an extra seat at a table the staff had assigned them. The place didn’t feel welcoming for young children either, with no crayons or colouring and a menu that didn’t seem appealing to them. There’s a lot to improve in the staff’s attitude and hospitality, especially given Roundstone’s importance as a tourism hub.

We were touring the area in our Camper Car and stopped for lunch. We didn’t stay here, but came back because we wanted that wonderful crab salad again. It’s a great spot for a delicious lunch, and sitting outside is perfect when the weather cooperates, especially since we had our dog with us.

We were four adults invited for Easter Sunday dinner in the main Restrant, and it turned into a perfect evening. I had the crab salad to start and rack of lamb for the main, both absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant was first class in every way. It was lovely to catch up with some friends, and finishing in the bar was a great end to the night. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
