Westgate House B&B Strokestown

The owner was lovely and helpful, with ideas for trips and things to do. The room was clean and cozy, though the bathroom fan was a little noisy. Breakfast here was a fabulous typical Irish breakfast. The house is near a very nice manor-house that’s now the Famine museum. I’d strongly recommend staying here, and visiting during the horse exhibition. Looking forward to staying again!

Right outside the gates of Strokestown House, this was a handy place to stay while doing the National Famine walk. Marlin was a fantastic, hospitable hostess, and filled our flasks with tea and coffee before we left. Breakfast was delicious.

After our traumatic crash, we found a peaceful place to recover at Westgate. We planned on one night and stayed for three! Marilyn, Gerry and their family were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and nothing seemed too much trouble. They even gave us a lesson on using an ipod nano. This lovely old house has been renovated, with spacious, clean en-suite rooms and comfortable beds. They also know the local area well, with plenty to interest people of all ages. Breakfast included a choice of cereals, juice, yoghurt and fruit, followed by a well-cooked, nicely presented meal with options available. Delighted to highly recommend :)

Quiet and almost countryside-like, but still very conveniently located near Eurospar, Percy Hotel, Strokestown Park and the shops. It’s pretty and comfortable, and close to Bus Eirran and other local buses. Owner Marilyn was friendly, accommodating and easy to reach.
