Camino House

The location is a little outside town, but that made it really peaceful. The lady who runs Camino House is very pleasant and makes you feel relaxed in what is effectively her home. Our room was huge, with good facilities and a dressing room. Breakfast was great, with everything you could want. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

The shared bathroom was a major issue. The host had advertised a private one, then said on arrival that booking.com hadn’t updated the listing. I felt she was lying. Our room didn’t look like the photos: it was plain, with white walls, a bare bulb hanging on a wire and a TV that wasn’t connected. The wooden floor creaked badly, and the spring locks on the doors woke the other guests when used. We could hear the neighbours talking, watching TV and snoring through the thin walls. There was hair from other guests in the bathroom, the shower didn’t drain, and sealant had been applied messily all over it. The wooden house also felt unsafe: the fire alarm had been removed, and some bathroom light fittings were empty, which seems a bad idea in a damp room. I told the host the room wasn’t as advertised and that I wasn’t satisfied with what we’d been offered. Otherwise I wouldn’t have booked it. We’re still waiting for our money back for the second day.

The view in front of the house is amazing, and if you like animals, the owner can show you some of the different kinds she keeps on her farm. We spent three nights here and couldn’t have picked a better place. The staff were friendly, breakfast was great, and both our room and private bathroom were very clean.

The room photos matched what we found, and the room itself was huge. Breakfast was amazing, and the owner was friendly and helpful without being over the top. Camino House exceeded our expectations, and we’d definitely stay again. Couldn’t rate it more highly.
