G Hotel

We spent four nights at G-Hotel Eilat and had a great stay. There was a wide range of tasty choices at both breakfast and dinner, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended!

The pool was nice, but the rest felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The rooms were a mess, the TV remote didn’t work, and reception closes at 19:00.

The supermarket in the same building was handy for a midnight snack, sold sunscreen, and its staff spoke English. That was one of the few useful things about the stay. I picked this inexpensive hotel for its location near ice mall and the beach I like, and we booked a room for two with a view. Check-in was easy, but the receptionist couldn’t speak any English, not even enough to ask our names. My boyfriend couldn’t manage the hotel or get breakfast on his own. Our room was tiny, with a view of the parking lot, and we killed three giant cockroaches as soon as we arrived. The internet was extremely slow, and the Wi-Fi barely reached the room. The TV had 16 channels, about half of them didn’t work, and the next evening I couldn’t turn it on because of a cable shift. I didn’t have the energy to try fixing it. The reception phone was never answered. There was no toothpaste, and the balcony was only 6 inches wide, too narrow for a child to stand on, let alone an adult. The parking lot didn’t have enough spaces for all the guests, and the cars sat in the sun. Breakfast was kosher dairy. There looked to be a lot of food, but most of it was frozen pizza and similar frozen pastries. The fresh omelettes were the only good part. The man making them didn’t speak English and ignored even basic instructions and requests in Hebrew. The pool looked cool at first, but was barely 6 ft deep at its deepest. As a diver, I explored the bottom and found hair, dead flies, and other things. There was no option to change towels. Maybe that was because we stayed only 2 nights, but the sheets weren’t changed or the bed made either. Cleaning staff knocked early to ask if we wanted the room cleaned. I said, “not now,” and they never came back. The noise was the worst part, and I didn’t sleep at all. Our room was next to the stairs, and the first night people slammed the door all night long. We propped it open, but the magnet didn’t work, so people kept slamming it. The second night, around 2am, some kind of alert started blaring. I have PTSD, and it terrified me and then my boyfriend too. It sounded like a red alert in the south, followed by a woman’s voice. I couldn’t make out what she was saying, and it kept going until 4:30am, leaving me awake and scared, with no idea what to think.

We stayed for a weekend, and the service was awful, the food was very bad, the rooms were dirty, there were no towels in the hotel, and security was very bad. I won’t come near this place again. Shameful and disgraceful.
