Isrotel Nevo Dead Sea Hotel

The food was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel, in Israel or abroad, with an amazing range and quality. That matters a lot in the Dead Sea area, where there are virtually no food options. The room, spa, gym, and service were all great, and the Nevo hotel is just two minutes on foot from the Dead Sea beach. Parking needs improvement. It’s a large hotel with very few spots, so most guests end up using gravel lots around the property. In the hot summer, walking back can be unpleasant.

The pool area was clean, spacious, and nicely landscaped, and the bedrooms were modern, tastefully decorated, and clean. Breakfast and dinner buffets were outstanding in quality, presentation, and variety, with attentive staff. The hotel is beautiful, modern, bright, and airy. The spa could be a little larger and include some outdoor features. Highly recommended.

The hotel is spotless, rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day, and upkeep was excellent. I didn’t run into any maintenance problems. Rooms are spacious, modern, well equipped, clean, and well maintained. For absolute quiet, choose a top floor or a room facing away from the pool. The music there is quiet and pleasant, but can carry upward. Staff are warm and welcoming everywhere, always close by and keen to help. Food is excellent with lots of options for different diets. Staff will explain ingredients if you have allergies or other restrictions. Half-board is a good choice, since the nearest mall or food court is a difficult walk in the heat and at that distance. There are four pools: the main lower one, an upper pool heated in winter, a small kids’ pool, and an indoor heated saltwater pool. The areas are clean, with a good mix of shade and sun. The saltwater pool is part of the large, clean, well-kept spa, which also has two jacuzzis and dry and wet saunas. I highly recommend the indoor pool. In high season there are pool activities, and there’s a lobby show every evening. The hotel is across the road from the beach, about a 2-3 minute walk from the pool. They’re finishing a bridge to link the pool area directly to the beach, so guests won’t need to cross the road. Parking is limited. Unless you arrange a spot ahead of time, you’ll probably use the gravel lot next to the hotel, which isn’t ideal in summer heat. As a kosher hotel, activities including the lobby show continue on Shabbat, but the bar’s coffee machine is turned off, so don’t expect coffee there on Saturday. This is one of my favorite hotels in Israel, and I highly recommend it.

This hotel seems geared toward seniors, especially with its out-of-date amenities, and the rooms all felt the same. The manager’s quote for an upgrade was a waste of time. The bed gave me the real Israeli IDF feel; I haven’t slept in one like that since boot camp. It felt like a 1.5-star hotel by world standards, but we paid five-star prices. My wife is a member and booked five rooms for our anniversary, and I wish we’d gone somewhere else. The hotel was under construction too. A one-day job stretched into weeks because of mismanagement, and staff acted as though it was my fault for booking during the renovations. The whole experience was horrible. Don’t waste your time upgrading.
