I stayed at Diana Seaport Apartments from November 2017 to August 2018, mostly in room 610. My first night was in room 401. The location is almost perfect for me, close to several bus stops and the "Haifa Center - HaShmonah" railway station. The staff were kind and helpful. I still remember manager Guy Weissman and deputy manager Alona, along with the receptionists: enthusiastic, loud-voiced Anastasia, who didn't stay long; sweet, serious, pragmatic Rosa; serious, practical, quick Noa; firm but nice Darya; resourceful, smart, happy Dina, who also didn't stay long; and Ehsan, who was talkative and had some really interesting, informative late-night conversations with me. Jeremy was French Jewish, well educated and knowledgeable, familiar with Bahrain's demographics and having lived in Japan. But he couldn't manage the flood emergency one November night, I think November 14, 2017, when the automatic fire suppression system malfunctioned and went off. I have fond memories. The building rooftop has a beautiful view. The first- and second-floor apartments can be noisy because they're near the street. Apartments on any floor beside the ventilation shaft, like room 401, were noisy too. It was funny that Ehsan was a Christian, a Roman Catholic Palestinian, with a Muslim first name. He was a fan of the American rock band Linkin Park.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and the location is handy for the train station, German Colonie and a few local shops. The rooftop is nice, with the sea port on one side and Bahai gardens on the other. Breakfast was a waste of time. Everything was cold and there was little to choose from: no vegetables, no milk, nothing sweet. It took about ten minutes to prepare and serve, yet it looked like the food had been cooked in advance and stored. There were a few slices of cheese and pastrami stacked on top of each other. I know not everyone eats kosher, but why do that? Apart from breakfast, it was okay value for the price.

We stayed overnight before departing on a cruise, and the room was just right. Haifa Center HaShmona train station is very close, and there are a decent number of places to eat nearby.

I booked a single room, but the toilet lid and seat both came off at the slightest touch, leaving nowhere to sit when I needed to. I nudged someone to fix it, and he said he had. When I returned a few hours later, it still wasn't fixed. I told the front desk I wanted a refund, and they said someone would speak to me the next day. Seven hours after checkout, nobody had contacted me. Avoid this place at all costs.

It's a simple, clean and quiet hotel in a great spot, right in downtown Haifa, with plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby. Don't expect anything fancy, but the rooms have what you need, including a kitchenette. They're small, but fine for sleeping between city outings. There's not much free parking around, though that isn't a problem at weekends.
