Allenby Bauhaus Apartments

The staff were friendly, and the location was excellent. The room had been freshened up, but there were still several problems: it wasn't clean under the bed, the air conditioner dripped onto the floor, and some tiles and cabinet drawers were cracked or broken. The shower was small, and turning around kept switching off the water, lol. Otherwise the stay was fine, and I'd consider coming back if those issues were properly fixed.

The location gets five stars from me, with the central market and urban feel nearby. It's safe and okay for the price if you just need somewhere basic to sleep, though I wouldn't recommend it. Reception was a four when it was open, and the furniture and toilet ceramics looked like quality materials. The upkeep, though, was a one. I noticed about ten broken things and doubt they'll be fixed. It made me wonder whether the boss cares, or whether anyone is in charge of room cleaning and concierge service. The three guys from SriLanka who were trying to clean and manage the place did their best. I wish them well.

The busy neighborhood was handy for getting to restaurants and places to see in Tel Aviv, but my stay had plenty of problems. Noise from the road came straight through the poor soundproofing, and the hotel didn't look as good as the photos. Staff mixed up my booking and took a long time to sort it out, including a lengthy wait for a refund. The Wi-Fi also worked only on and off.

Two cafeterias were right below our windows, and one played music until 4:30 in the morning. The corridors and hallways were dirty, and there were cockroaches. The apartment seemed like it hadn't been renovated since before WWII. In the kitchen we found no cups or proper glasses, and only two forks in different sizes. In short, the worst apartment I've ever stayed in.
