I booked through Priceline, then got an email demanding a deposit by Western Union or bank transfer. That goes against the booking site’s rules and is a major red flag. It seems like a scam.

The basement location kept the apartment quiet despite the busy road, and both of us slept well in our windowless room. Everything was clean, well maintained, and there was everything we needed: kettle, tea, coffee, cooking supplies we didn’t end up using, and AC. There was even a washing machine with detergent, which was handy at the end of our two-week trip when our clean clothes were running low. The other guests were friendly, quiet, and respectful. It’s easy to find and very close to Tel Aviv beach. We stayed three days in May 2023, and the owner was quick to communicate and very helpful. He came to clean every day. When I mentioned that our flight was in the evening, he kindly let us leave our luggage in the apartment and drop the keys in a box. That gave us another worry-free day at the beach, which we really appreciated. We’d definitely come back.
Dotan is the highlight: knowledgeable, personable, generous, and clearly committed to guests’ comfort. One reviewer compared him favorably to a five-star hotel concierge, and I can see why. He replied on WhatsApp in under five minutes most of the time, was gracious when we arrived 35 minutes late, and even offered us the latest checkout I’ve ever had without paying for another night, since the next guest wasn’t arriving until supper. He also let us store our luggage after checkout. The place is basic but cheerful, clean, secure, quiet, and great value. It’s well placed for the beach, the new port development, central city, public transport, and attractions in Hertsliya. There’s no 24-hour staff or reception desk, but Dotan can arrange to meet you on arrival if possible, and each room has a self-service key box. Towels for the bath and kitchen are provided, along with hand and dish soap. Four hostel rooms share two toilets and a lovely common area, while the one-room apartment has its own bath and kitchen. WiFi is free, and everything is clearly documented. Our windows were shuttered and the place is half a flight below street level, so there isn’t much natural light or a view. That didn’t bother me, since I’d rather be at the sea, exploring town, or looking out from a cafe. I booked because the reviews were positive, and I found them all true. I hope to return soon.
The shared kitchen made it easier to save on eating out in expensive Tel Aviv. There’s also a shared bathroom and two toilets. It’s clean and basic, but just right, and Dotan is friendly and very helpful with requests. The location is excellent, close to the beach and public transport, including trains, buses, and electric bike rentals. Great value for money.
Our time in Tel Aviv was amazing. Dotan made us feel welcome and was always supportive, with lots of useful tips and advice. He was available whenever we had questions. We’d happily recommend this place and would love to return!
