The neighborhood is peaceful and charming, and the room had everything I needed, even if it was on the small side. Getting in takes a phone call rather than a regular check-in, then someone comes to welcome you. They were friendly and easy to reach. It was a lovely surprise, and I’d highly recommend it if you’re on a moderate budget and want to stay near the beach. Thank you!

The outdoor relaxing area is a big reason to stay here. The beach is about a five-minute walk away, and the big Camel market is just around the corner. It’s a nice alternative to a standard hotel, though the beds, shower, and room convenience aren’t the best.

The room was filthy and unbelievably shabby, and I didn’t feel safe there. The front door was missing glass, so anyone could get in without a door code. There was no staff, and getting the key meant an odyssey to an unaffiliated hostel eight blocks away. I didn’t stay even one night. This place felt like a fire trap and should be closed by the fire department. DO NOT STAY THERE.

Getting to the room took until after midnight. I called the hotel three times, spent 30 minutes at reception, and ended up with two invoices. The desk was two blocks from the address on Booking, so arriving at 11 PM meant calling someone to bring the keys. They had also tried to charge my card even though it was supposed to be for the reservation only and I’d said I would pay cash. At the desk, the woman then remembered VAT had to be added, which meant another transaction, extra fees, and another ten minutes. There was no way to combine the charges on one invoice. The room and bathroom were just as disappointing. The old, unrenovated furniture looked like my accommodation as a kibbutz volunteer 35 years ago, only that place seemed luxurious by comparison. The towels and toiletries were dreadful, so bring your own. The cheap mattress was hard, uncovered, and came with minimal bedding. The shower is beside the toilet, which gets soaked, and the toilet sits under a hot water tank you can hit your head on when standing up. The bathroom floor stays wet for hours. Depending on the room, access may be by a precarious spiral staircase or a dark, red-lit alley. If that all sounds acceptable at boutique hotel prices, Eden House TLV may suit you.
