Star Apartments - Dizengoff Square

There was a nice woman at reception, though it wasn't her fault that the place was such a letdown. What is supposed to be a boutique hotel felt like a cash cow, and it's hard to see what is boutique about it. The basement reception was crammed with suitcases, toilet paper, and cleaning gear, and there were dead cockroaches by the entrance. There was no lobby or toilets, which was especially inconvenient after a long drive. To reach the elevator from your room, you have to go outside and around the building. The elevator broke while we were there, so I had to carry five bags and all my camera equipment down the stairs. The owner could renovate reception with proper seats and a fountain, and fix the existing toilet.

There's plenty of nightlife nearby, with bars in this lively area staying crowded until early morning on Thursday and Friday. If that's what you want, look no further. The beach is also within walking distance. The rooms were nice enough, but didn't feel especially boutique. Parking around the hotel is scarce, so we left the car in a lot about 300 metres away.

The rooms are a little tired, but the staff are wonderful. They're kind, helpful, and make you feel welcome, taking time to chat. It's in a great spot near shops and the beach. I'd definitely stay again. Five stars!

HONEST REVIEW The balcony was so dirty I wouldn't want to sit out there, and the chair provided was broken. The room lighting was poor and depressing, and the place looked run down, like it hadn't been updated in a long time. There's no extra towel beyond the ones they give you. Room service is basically unavailable outside 10AM to 4PM, so plan to arrive during those hours.
