What bothered me most is that the club’s response to pool crowding seems simple: members could book time slots in advance, as other well-run clubs do. Instead, the weekend restrictions, price rise, and cap on workout classes have wiped out the value of my membership. I’ve been a member of The George for over two years and work in an office five days a week, so weekends are my only chance to use the pool and spa I pay for. Recently, with very little notice, pool access was cut to mornings only, until 12pm. When I asked to cancel, they said they’d still charge me for another month, even though I couldn’t use the facilities for the reason I joined. That’s unacceptable. Getting into the club as a paying member feels like going through airport security, with two check-ins and security guards who are consistently aggressive and unprofessional. At the Purim party, a guard verbally assaulted my friend and me. I’m a member, and that should never happen. This place clearly isn’t run by people who understand what a proper members club should be. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The hotel and room design look beautiful, but poor service ruined the stay. The entrance security guard was unfriendly and rude. Construction outside started at 7 AM, and at 8 AM drilling began in the next room while we were asleep. There was no way to sleep through it. It wasn’t worth the money.

Those evening events, like the live music, were a nice touch, though I couldn’t tell which ones were for members and which hotel guests could attend too. The shared spaces are lovely, and there’s a good work area, gym with classes, sauna and a pool I didn’t try. I was there for three nights for work, and the location suited me since I needed to be near Sarona. There’s a lot of construction nearby, but it didn’t bother me.

The hotel’s gym access and how complaints are handled left me with a very poor impression. It’s tiny and crowded, and hotel guests can use it only at certain times while members get priority. The hotel also has coworking areas, but those seemed crowded and poorly managed for guests. I was charged a deposit equal to the full cost of my stay, something that wasn’t clearly disclosed beforehand. The property felt worn too, with visible stains and tired upholstery on the restaurant sofas. During my stay, one of the gym’s two treadmills had only a towel on it and no one was using it. I waited a few minutes, then got on. A woman came over aggressively and told me to leave because it was “hers.” No reservation rule had been explained. The first staff member to approach us, a blonde woman, didn’t try to understand what had happened. She just said “the treadmill is hers” and gestured for me to get off. Staff later called the woman “powerful.” I didn’t say they told me that different rules applied based on status. That was my own conclusion after spending two days there. I filed a formal complaint and initially received no response. Update, 11/01/26: I checked my spam folder and saw that the hotel’s email had arrived that same day but was filtered there. That doesn’t resolve the issues. The hotel may deny that some guests are treated more favorably, but that wasn’t my experience. Rather than address the problem, it blamed guests, as it has in earlier replies to similar complaints. The full-stay deposit and unclear gym access also need to be addressed, since they create unpleasant surprises.

The rooms are extremely small, and dinner service at the Loft restaurant was terrible, so I wouldn’t recommend eating there. Still, we had a good time at the George. The design feels luxurious, everything was spotless and the staff were nice. Checkout at 19:00 on Saturday was the best part (!!). There were also cool activities and lectures in the Jazz hall.
