The Spot Hostel

We stayed for two nights with my partner in November 2025, and we'll definitely come back on our next trip to Tel Aviv. The hostel is pleasant and affordable, with friendly staff and a clean room. Ours was small but had what we needed: a bed, bathroom, storage under the bed, sheets, and towels. There wasn't an outside-facing window, just one opening onto a hallway, but that didn't matter to us. The shared area was tidy and nice, with a kitchen, bathrooms, and dining space. The location is great, near Yarkon park and the beach. There's also a very tasty, affordable Arab bakery nearby that's open 24/7. My only issue was the towels. Drying my hands left a lot of coarse dust on them, which was a big problem since I planned to put in contact lenses. Still, I recommend the hostel.

The room was so warm I could barely breathe. Reception told me the AC was shared across rooms, so if another guest wanted it off, they could switch it off. I asked for the lowest setting, but it still wasn't cool, and I woke up sweating in February. Getting the free coffee was awkward too: I arrived at 10:20 after filling out a check-in review, but the person making it was on a morning break until 10:45. I wanted coffee before checkout, but had to check out first. Check-in itself was quick, though they required a 500 NIS damage deposit, which wasn't ideal. Compared with WOM Neve tzekek, a nearby place by the Tel Aviv beach with a similar concept and price, this hotel's location and facilities fell short. The other place has private AC in each room, a sink in the room, and is much cleaner. I won't be back.

The Spot still has a fun feel and it's clean, and I think it's good value, so I can still recommend it. But it felt noticeably shabbier than when I stayed for six nights in 2022. When I returned for three nights in November 2025, the breakfast they'd once offered was gone, and a party with a live band in the lobby made it hard to sleep well past 11 p.m. They also said there was a washer and dryer, but only after I'd finished washing did I learn the dryer was broken, and the staff hadn't known. I had to go looking for another dryer late at night. My room had no chair or tabletop, and the bathroom lighting was too dim. The services aren't as nice as they were a few years ago. I hope things improve.

A decent budget stay if you're clear on what you're booking. The double capsule room was very minimal, pretty much a bed plus a toilet and shower, as expected. The TV could share a screen from my computer, which was a nice extra. The location is excellent and the price is good, but hallway sounds carried easily, the mattress was quite hard, and we had to ask the front desk for soap because there wasn't any in the bathroom.
