We left and won’t be back. It’s sad to see a place with such a good past decline this much, and I can’t recommend it. We came back because we’d stayed here before, when it was part of Brown Hotels and everything was perfect. Since then it’s been sold and is no longer part of the chain, but Google still lists it as Theodor Brown by Brown Hotels, and booking confirmations still come from Brown’s email and domain. That gives guests a misleading impression and sets false expectations. The room we got at check-in was dirty, with stains, hair, dust, and used shampoo bottles left behind by previous guests. We told reception, and they said it would be cleaned while we were out. Three hours later we came back to find nothing had changed, and nobody had even told us the cleaning wasn’t going to happen. The manager said the cleaner had already left and suggested we stay in the dirty room overnight and have it cleaned in the morning. They offered no other option. The most they would do was refund one night if we checked out right away, saying we could return the next day. So they expected us to find another hotel late at night, move all our things, then come back the next day in 40°C heat, just so we wouldn’t lose the money for night two.

I was there for 12 nights, and sleep was hard to come by. There’s construction in the hotel and across the street, with loud noise early in the morning. The windows don’t block much sound, and the hotel is off a very busy street. The shower was dirty when I arrived, with soap scum and garbage in it. Room supplies were never replenished, even when I asked. One day my room wasn’t cleaned, and I was told the cleaners hadn’t shown up. Another night the fire alarm sounded for an hour. When I raised the missed cleaning with the manager and asked about compensation, she laughed at me and said there was no way she could compensate me. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The person who welcomed us was nice, but we won’t be back. The place doesn’t look like the pictures, and the bathroom felt so dirty that we were careful about touching anything. The towels smelled strange, were ripped, and had stains. There was hair and staining on the bed sheets too. I’ll remember to read reviews before booking next time! :)

The design, room size, amenities, and friendly, polite reception staff were all good. But our one-night stay was one of the most horrendous experiences we’ve had in Tel Aviv. The location is great, but loud terrace music from the hotel restaurant went on late into the night. With no sound isolation in the room windows, it felt like we were right in the restaurant. I understand where the hotel is, but this level of noise felt disrespectful to its own guests. Breakfast cost 110 NIS and was shockingly poor: just a couple of bowls of soft cheese, salad, eggs, and pastry.

The hotel is in a great spot for exploring the city, walking to the beach, and reaching lots of nice restaurants nearby. The staff were pretty friendly and tried to make our stay comfortable. We stayed one night in June, though, and neither of the two rooms we tried offered any real rest, at night or during the day. Noise came from the courtyard dumpster, loud music from the hotel restaurant, construction, and the street. The windows barely blocked it, and the electric shades didn’t close all the way, with no proper curtains to make up for that. Breakfast was minimal by Israeli standards. The dining area is partly open to the yard, and the food sat out with no cooling or even ice to keep things like butter and cheese in decent condition.
