Hotel Sonar Gaon by OYO Rooms

I had a good stay and would be happy to come back to Hotel Sonar Gaon. The rooftop restaurant is nice, and the service boys were especially kind. Management should make sure to retain them. A few food and service details could improve. The food tastes good, though soup portions should be at least 20% larger. The breakfast buffet needs a more thoughtful layout, and the staff could use training in soft skills. Idli preparation needs to be learned properly so they come out soft. Idli should still be served at breakfast despite this feedback. The other food items are good. The kitchen closes at 10 pm, and I think it could stay open until at least 10:30. They don't serve pork. Thali is available only at lunch, but it should also be offered at dinner for hotel guests who want home-like food to help stay fit.

I liked the bamboo interior at the beautiful rooftop restaurant, and the food was tasty. The rooms were clean and neat, too. Staff treated guests very well and were polite.

The room was clean, and the staff behaved well. Still, the basics were missing: there was no WiFi, towel, or bathroom slippers, the TV didn't work, and I only had one pillow. The hotel manager asked me several times in Bengali whether this was my first trip to India. Also, don't mistake the soap bar for something to have with your coffee. I don't know the area's usual prices, but this so-called single AC room cost 1200 rupees.

The buffet service was very poor, though the overall setup was sufficient. I hope it improves in future, and wish Hotel Sonargoan every success.
