The food quality was good, no question about that. But the place looked much better in the pictures than it was in reality, and there were lots of cockroaches. They also didn’t provide hot water for a bath. If you hate insects, look at other options too. 👍👍👍

The infrastructure is great, but maintenance is lacking. The rooms were clean, though the linen wasn’t. I asked politely and they changed the sheets and other stuff. I’d called ahead to check whether paying online would cause any problem, and they said it wouldn’t. After I paid and checked in, there was no fuss.

The whole stay felt hostile and scary, and I checked out after only a few hours. This was supposed to be my last OYO hotel booking, and maybe things would have gone differently if I’d paid the hotel in cash from the start. Thanks, OYO, for such wonderful clients and world class customer service. I’ll never forget it. I booked a Deluxe room through the OYO app, but they first gave me a Standard room. About 30 minutes later they said a Deluxe room was available and I could move. It hadn’t even been cleaned after someone checked out a few minutes earlier, though. The scene inside made it feel like they were deliberately trying to sell it to a higher paying customer using cash, so I stayed in the Standard room. It was okay for a 2 star lodge. The hallways smelled of cigarette and alcohol, but the Standard room itself didn’t smell bad. Maybe nobody had stayed there that day. The towels they gave me were the only other good thing. They wanted me to leave my room key with them if I went out without checking out. I didn’t. Creepy. Don’t book Champion Orchid AKA Champion Lodge through OYO. They refused to honor my booking and demanded cash to let me check in, saying they’d mark it as a “no show” after checkout time so OYO would refund me. They didn’t do that, and I lost the money I’d paid through the app. Greedy liars. They claimed OYO hadn’t paid them for a while, or was paying them very little. OYO customer service put me on hold and then disconnected the call three times.

We ended up booking another hotel through OYO because Champion Orchid wouldn’t give us a room. We’d booked there the day before on the app, but when we arrived, the receptionist demanded about twice the listed rate. He was drunk and rude, and made us feel unwelcome. The staff’s behavior overall was poor.
