Hotel Rainbow near Victoria Hospital City Market

The room had a musty, old smell, like damp carpet and old food, and the place felt neglected. Outside, the hotel sits in a traffic jungle of honking tuk-tuks and street vendors. Parking looked risky if your car already had dents, since it might get more. At reception, the mustiness came with suspicion: they scrutinized our marriage as though it were fake, even with our baby with us. We left quickly. Just outside, a wild-looking orange-haired, disabled old man was jumping and screaming. He deliberately rammed his walker into our car, saying it lacked personality and needed an upgrade. Food is available right outside. Meat lovers have plenty to choose from, raw or fried. Vegetarians would be better off eating beforehand. Quite an experience, but one I’d rather forget.

The building and rooms are very old, and the bathrooms aren’t clean or neat. This is a very bad hotel. They also give a normal paper bill while still charging GST tax.

The rooms are tidy and spacious, and the price is reasonable. The people here are very nice and helpful.

A well maintained hotel, and the staff are cooperative. Must stay.
