Somit Paying Guest House

Somit made me feel welcome and helped with advice and arranging cultural excursions. The room was pleasant, simple, and fair for what it cost. It’s well placed for visiting the ghats, so I’d recommend it to first-time visitors.

I loved the yoga sessions with Somit on the roof, and there are plenty of other activities he can book whenever you want. The hosts are welcoming and help you get involved in life in Varanasi. It’s in a great spot by the river, in the quieter pedestrian part of the city. Volunteering at the school was a great experience too. Definitely recommend!

Pooja’s cooking is a real treat, and Somit is the kind of host you hope for. Somit Paying Guest House is a great place to stay if you want to get to know the real Varanasi. I recommend it wholeheartedly. See for yourself when you visit!

Somit has two guest houses, one near the ghat and another much farther away. He told me the rooms by the ghat weren’t available, but said yes if I paid an extra 2k/3k. Otherwise, he moved me to the other guest house, where the room was very basic. I paid 2,100 per night for a very small room with poor hygiene and a dirty mattress. His manner was very good, but the other problems can’t be overlooked.
