The Midland

My one-night stay in Room 208 was stressful and deeply disappointing. The bed had bed bugs, making it extremely uncomfortable. Cleanliness and hygiene should be a hotel priority, but that wasn’t my experience here. This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. Management should act quickly on cleaning and pest control so future guests don’t face the same problem.

The breakfast was awful: two pooris with curry made the day before, brought to the room just to count as the free meal, and no tea or coffee. They didn’t even provide drinking water. The hotel is at the dead end of a service lane under a flyover, surrounded by a slum area, with no nearby shops or market. Stray cats wandered through the lobby and tried to get into the room, and the staff were unprofessional. I stayed three days in a deluxe room my company had booked through Agoda and paid for in advance. It was non-refundable, and that booking was a big mistake. Shame on Agoda for listing a hotel like this with a good rating. The bedsheet and blanket cover were dirty, and despite asking many times, they weren’t changed during my stay. There was no room cleaning at all. The bathroom had no hot water and leaking taps.

The staff were cooperative, but the property seems to have no maintenance. Dirty pillowcases and bedsheets made the stay uncomfortable. There wasn’t even a water bottle in the room, the jet spray was broken, and some of the equipment was damaged. The rooms were in very poor condition.

The room door was great, but that was about it. The bedsheets in our room at Hotel Midland had already been used, and cockroaches were crawling on the bed even after it was cleaned. There was a dirty smell from the entrance through to the lift area, and the place wasn’t clean. There was no geyser or hot water, so my 80 year old mother had to bathe in cold water in such cold weather. Our tour company put six ladies in this hotel and should have checked it first. We’re from Mumbai, Maharashtra, and I wish they’d thought about whether visitors from other states would be satisfied. For a family, I’d never suggest staying here. I thought this hotel might only be famous for couples. I’ve attached a video after the room cleaning. I gave one star because the review wouldn’t proceed without it.
