The best part of our two-night family stay at Colonia Santa Maria was the private path to the beach between Baga and Calangute. We spent some lovely time there. The room was good and had an extra bed, and the towels in the restroom were clean. There were no toiletries such as a toothbrush or toothpaste, and the TV was maybe 32 inches. The property is on one of North Goa’s busiest streets, and the approach roads were in bad shape when we visited in Sep 2025. Breakfast was below average, with very few choices. At over Rs 9k a day, it didn’t feel worth the price. I’m not sure whether other North Goa properties offer better facilities at a lower rate.

I stopped at the restaurant on my way to the beach, and the food was a complete letdown. I asked for the fish to be spicier than usual, but all it had was extra tomato flavor. The vegetable dish tasted the same, sour with no other flavor. A total waste of 1,600 rupees. Don’t come here for food, and if you do come, eat somewhere else.

We had such a brilliant two weeks here that we’ve already booked another stay, this time for three weeks later this year. The food, rooms, staff, and service were all out of this world. We couldn’t fault the hotel.

The place has a great atmosphere and location, opening straight onto Baga beach. The pool is a decent size, about 4.8 feet deep, and there’s a good restaurant and bar.
