OYO 17309 Maya's Holiday House

This is a scam listing on the Booking.com app. A person named Sushanth called and demanded advance payment. After it was paid, he stopped answering calls, especially on the actual day of the stay. I went to the lodge, and the reception staff clearly told me their hotel isn't listed on Booking.com. They confirmed this was a fake booking and a scam. The most frustrating part is that Booking.com hasn't replied for more than 15 DAYS since I raised a complaint. No support, no accountability, no action.

We were booked for 4 days through Booking.com, but when we reached the property at night, the owner said it wasn't their hotel and wouldn't honor the booking. With family and no other option that late, we had to take rooms at much higher rates. The next day they demanded more money to let us continue the stay, or told us to leave and find somewhere else, despite the confirmed booking. There were quarrels every day for all three days over the booking amount, extra payment, and refunds. Police came to the property 2-3 times during our stay. We saw 15-20 families dealing with similar issues from this scam-like behavior. The rooms were pathetic too: the AC didn't work, blankets smelled badly, housekeeping was poor, and the beds were very poor quality. The stay was extremely uncomfortable. This place is clearly meant to loot customers. Avoid Maya Holiday Homes and save your money, time, and peace of mind.

Rajesh was the only person I found helpful. The AC worked properly, and there was Wi-Fi, though no internet connection. The rest of the stay was awful. Water leaked from the toilet, and I had to ask over and over for a bedsheet change without getting one. The young guy at the counter was rude. Once we had checked out, they wouldn't let anyone, women or men, use even the common washroom. They asked for online payment, then after we arrived claimed there was no booking. It felt like a scam. If you still choose this room after reading this, expect to have wasted your money.

This will be my last visit to Goa. I had been there nine times in the past four years, and booked this place through Booking.com. When I called the number listed on the site to confirm, the person I spoke with said the booking would be cancelled unless I paid half in advance. I sent the advance, then arrived to find the owner saying the number wasn't theirs and the property wasn't theirs either. Five other families were there with the same problem, including a foreign woman. The owner seemed not to care, and the Goa police also seemed to treat it as just another scam during the season. From taxis and restaurants to activities and scooter rentals, it felt like everyone was trying to scam visitors. I'm not coming back.
