Ginger Goa Candolim

The facilities, food, pool, and atmosphere all exceeded what we expected. Everything was well maintained and thoughtfully arranged for guests, and the service felt high-class. What stayed with us most was the staff’s honesty. We misplaced a gold chain at the hotel, and security supervisor Mr. Suman Kumar found it and returned it. We’re very grateful for his sincerity and professionalism, and for the support and leadership of manager Mr. Chetan. Their care turned a stressful moment into something heartwarming, and we were able to finish our trip with beautiful memories. Highly recommended.

The hardest part of our five-night stay at Ginger was getting comfortable in bed. The mattresses were so hard that folding a duvet over mine barely helped, and I eventually bought camping mattresses from decathlon just to sleep. Rooms were very clean and had water provided each day, but there were no hand towels, so ask for one. The buffet breakfast was very limited. Check-in was quick and efficient, though after that I didn’t find the staff especially helpful. The hotel seems mainly aimed at Indian travellers and families, and I don’t think it works well for western tourists. Noise was another problem: guests shouted and sang from midnight onwards, and the soundproofing is poor, especially at night. Earplugs are a must. It’s a shame for a new hotel. I’m not sure whether other Ginger hotels are the same. Check where reviewers are travelling from, since Indian guests rate things differently.

The location made it easy to explore: restaurants and attractions were walkable or a short scooter or car ride away, and the hotel’s rental service helped us get around. The lobby and shared areas had plenty of room to unwind. I stayed at Ginger Candolim for seven days, and found the room spacious, well equipped, and stocked with the toiletries and grooming kit I needed. Check-in was seamless, and staff were friendly, attentive, and ready to help. A few breakfast items felt repetitive, so the buffet could rotate more. I’d also have liked shower gel and moisturizer in the bathroom. Even with those small gaps, it was a delightful stay and I’d happily consider returning.

Noise made the first two nights almost impossible to sleep, and management didn’t seem able to control it. The rooms aren’t soundproof, and even a mistaken early morning wake-up call can ruin your sleep. For a property claiming to be 3-star plus, the service didn’t meet the standard. Housekeeping left a wrapper and water bottle on the floor all day, and the complimentary laundry took 48 hours to come back. The room was decent in size, about 20 by 10, but there was only a narrow gap between the bed and TV cabinet, no chair, reading table, or bedside tables. The wardrobe was decent, and so was the small bathroom. At check-in they handed me a plain A4 printed welcome sheet, which felt like checking into a lodge. In-room dining through the QR menu was very limited and expensive, and the cafe menu was costly too. Both breakfast and dinner buffets need a better spread. For the price, I wasn’t very satisfied.
