Shalom Indus Residency

Cockroaches were everywhere, in the room, restaurant, and kitchen. The blankets they gave us were torn, and when we asked to have them changed, they refused. I traveled to India, and this was the worst hotel I stayed in. The service was inhuman. On paper it’s a three star hotel, but in reality it wasn’t even one star. They didn’t provide toiletries or a hot water kettle in the room. When we asked them to arrange one, they said it wasn’t in their criteria. The food was terrible, and we all felt ill after eating it. We’d booked three days with breakfast and dinner but ate there only once. The other meals we had at our own cost at outside restaurants. The receptionist was very uncooperative.

Food was good and the staff were good, but there were too many cockroaches and mosquitoes. Cockroaches got into clothes and bags too. The shower gel they provided was watered down. Breakfast was good, though coffee and milk cost extra.

This could be a good hotel if the issues I noticed were fixed, but the employees ruined the stay. I didn’t feel like a guest. There were cockroaches in the room, and tea wasn’t available before 8:30 AM. There were no tea supplies in the room for anyone who wanted a cup at any time. The towels had been used, and the bedsheet they gave us for a third person was a blanket cover and damp. Bathroom items that hotels normally provide, such as small soap, toothpaste, oil, and a comb, weren’t there. It felt like a place to come, sleep, and leave, in Mumbai terms, “chol type.” Don’t choose this hotel if you’re visiting Goa.

I spent five days at Shalom Indus in Goa, and it was a lovely stay with a good balance of comfort, convenience, and hospitality. The location was peaceful and tucked away, yet still close to major beaches and restaurants. The rooms were clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully designed, a cozy place to come back to after days exploring beaches and markets. The staff were exceptionally courteous and always ready to help with a smile, whether arranging local transport or suggesting nearby attractions. Breakfast was delicious, with a different variety each day. Shalom Indus Residency offered great value for money and made my Goan getaway comfortable and memorable.
